So I installed a fan in my living room, which previously didn't have a light fixture at all. Here's a pipcture of my (unspoiled) attic before I started working :) (mostly unspoiled - the insulation has been replaced since I installed ethernet and the power outlet for the networking closet).

To find my way to where I want to be in the attic, I push a nice, bright green wire up through the ceiling where I need to cut the hole.

The fan needs a metal brace that's attached to two framing members in the attic so it doesn't fall when it starts spinning. I seem to have missed taking a picture of that, though.
Here's the fan, hung before I've attached the blades

And finally, with the blades and lights attached. It's actually spinning in this picture, but of course you can't tell that :-) I like my new digital camera.
